Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised in the countryside, I was close with my parents and 2 siblings. Moving to California in the mid's 70's, I lived in the wilderness of Big Sur for 3 years on a journey of learning to grow my own food, providing for myself, self discovery and spiritual awakening. It was there I met the master yogi Baba Hari Dass and after receiving a B.S. in horticulture and getting married, I moved to Mt. Madonna Center in Watsonville to immerse myself in the 8 limbed system of Ashtanga yoga. My work at MMC was as varied as the weather: organic vegetable garden manager, water system operator, fireman, financial reconciler, administrator of personnel as well as daily operations, security officer, emergency responder, herbalist, and bodyworker. Since 1999, I have collected herbs at 9000' in the Sierras and made them into medicines. In 2006, I learned Swedish massage at Harbin Hot Springs only to be followed shortly thereafter with orthopedic massage. I helped teach the Swedish course at Harbin for several years, the last time being Jan 2015 before the devastating fire later that fall.
Since learning yoga and meditation in the late 70's, it has become a daily practice for me with profound effects. The traditional Ashtanga yoga that "Babaji" taught us is steeped in selfless service, humility, non violence, truthfulness and subtle wisdom. I bring these qualities to my massage practice for a deeper understanding of the nature of life and we the people who live it.
